Going on Week 3, KIDS BORED? What to do?

Kids Bored?

  • If there is a day of sun, quick head to the beach as tomorrow the sun maybe gone!
  • Go searching for creepy crawlers, find bugs and research them online
  • Create a scavenger hunt in a local park to rind things in nature, provide  a list, or even show pictures that you can find online to help them see a visual if they are younger. Eg. Leaf, woodbug, berry bush, moss, squirrel… 
  • Go to the water park and let them enjoy getting wet especially on a hot day!
  • Bake, ask what they want to make and let them lick the spoon or even the bowl, why not!
  • Enrol them in summer camps, great place to socialize and learn new things or even try new sports!

  • Show your kids how to roller skate, or even ride a skate board
  • Go hiking on trails or in the bog enjoy the beauty of nature
  • Go to the dollar store and find some affordable crafts or search online for some great craft ideas. Or better yet use items that you can recycle!
  • Camp in the backyard, can’t go camping, enjoy it right in the backyard!
  • Rainy day? Go to the Library to check out some books or check out what free programs or shows they have for kids and its all free!
  • Have a water fight, kids love letting lose and getting their parents wet!
  • Plant flowers, take them to the garden store let them pick what they want to grow and get yours too and plant them together they will be proud to see their very own plant grow!
  • Make your own kite and go fly it!  (or go to your local dollar store and buy one, usually they have one)
  • Go see the local family attractions, be a tourist in your own city! Vancouver has lots to offer!
  • Go enjoy a local farmer’s markets. There is not just food anymore, vendors of all sorts come. Also most market’s provide a craft for free for the kids too! Sometimes there is entertainment as well such as singers, clowns or make up artists!
  • Help your kids create a scrapbook of the summer fun!
  • Volunteer as a family at a local charity, to a good deed and help your kids have more appreciation for what they have.
  • Make a picnic and go to a local park or even go to Grouse Mountain!
  • Have a family game night, pick a game that is easy for the entire family to plat or even just play charades but kid friendly!
  • Find a pen pal for your kids to write to like this one
  • Create a Board game with your kids! Invoke imagination!
  • Create your very own puzzle! Print out an image or cut one out form a magazine, glue it on a harder piece of paper and draw out puzzle pieces and cut them out.
  • Make a bird feeder, or even take some bird feed and visit the George C. Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary in Delta, BC!
  • Create airplanes, different kinds, find out which one is the best flyer by experimenting! Lots of online help for different simple designs
  • Ask your kids to find things around the house to see if they will float and things that will sink, a fun experiment (just no electronics!)
  • Create an obstacle course and make it a race for the entire family!, use things around the house or outside the house, hula hoops, ropes, buckets…
  • Create an ice cream decorating table, and let them decorate and build their own ice cream sundae, mmm!
  • Build a fort inside or out, let them use their imagination, and ignore the mess and let them build!
